(Other) Things that Go Bump

So, I'm sitting here, blogging away like the happy little gal I am....and I hear a weird...noise.

I poke my head into the hallway. Nothing there. No Boo creeping down the stairs. We don't have a cat.

I'm pretty sure we killed all the mice.

We have an ant problem in the kitchen, but I haven't seen them toting rattles or shakers, so I'm pretty confident its not them....

And weirder, I can't quite tell where the noise is coming from, when I realize that something is thumping against the window.

I don't know what is in the air here, but the bumblebees and flies I've seen buzzing around are ginormous. (That's a real word. Go look it up.)

Its....something. A bug. A giant bug, the size of a hummingbird, from the sound of the thumping, and the wings buzzing against the window pane.

And suddenly, I really, truly wish that:

1) I hadn't stayed up late watching "The Mist" while the Hubs was travelling last week

and

2) I didn't have an overactive imagination (who, me? Oh, go on...)

because all I keep picturing in my head are the giant bugs that broke through the supermarket window in the movie and attacked the helpless shoppers holed up there, painfully stinging them, their faces swelling up and then they died....

I looked for a picture online, so you could share my heebie-bejeebies, but I couldn't find one.
You can thank me later. (Cookies are good. Cookies always say "thanks").

I don't think I can come up with a clearer sign that it is time for me to turn off the lights in the room and go to bed!

May Bugs! Named so because they - well, appear in May. Real name, Cockchafer.

On no account have the lights on and the windows on at this time of year, unless you are ok with large scary things buzzing around your room bumping loudly into things.

But they are pretty harmless :-)
