Hello, Sunshine!

Day two of our great adventure to Tenerife, and things are looking up!
See?

While in Tenerife (which, for my American friends, is one of the Canary Islands - owned by Spain, but off the coast of Africa) we stayed at the Bitacora Hotel. If you have small or medium sized children, this is the place to be. (If you have teenagers who want to go to clubs, this area is probably too tame - so perfect for us.)

The kids FAVORITE bit was the pool.

Great place, fantastic staff. Food was good, too - I think we were both surprised by the variety and quality. Although, Pete and I had grilled fish every night....yummo! Because of all the rain, the soft play area was closed/flooded, but the hotel ran movies for kids in one of the conference rooms all day long. It was a nice spot to hit at the end of the afternoon when it was too late to be in the pool but too early for supper in the dining room.

The kids had such a good time, and were treated so well by the staff. They got along fabulously, and Pea was incredibly....good.

Wait - did you see that? They are even holding hands! Voluntarily! Oh, the magic of this place.

Granted, we were still a bit out of season, so as long as you were in (under) the water, you were fine.
However, the minute you got OUT of the water, well, that was a different story. I think Boo handled it quite nicely....

....while I got a cuddle from a wet & tired Pea.
It did this girl a world of good to see clear, sunny skies AND not need to be bundled up.
Of course, it was also nice to have a week off from laundry, cooking, washing up, and cleaning, too!!!
