Last weekend we packed up the kids and drove about 2-1/2 hours west to Moline, IL for a visit to John Deere Commons. We stayed at Stoney Creek Inn (can't say enough about the fun the kids had there, too), which was walking distance from both the Commons and the Collectors Center. Its located right on the riverfront, just off the river walk, which was lovely in the evenings. The kids loved the bunk bed for them and swimming thru the carwash-like divider between the indoor/outdoor pools.
The Commons had antique tractors to view and new ones to sit in, interactive displays and a huge store. The Collectors Center had more antiques to view as well as a wonderful play area with giant foam tractors, gators and the like to play on and a play table with models.
We also took a side trip to Niabi Zoo, which is a fantastic little zoo complete with a carousel and zoo train. The kids fed goats, Daddy fed birds, and we saw lots of animals.
We ended the trip with a stop at the headquarters, which was the gold mine of John Deere tractors and equipment. It was a fun trip!
