Maddie is a funny bird. She is very attached to her blankies. While she actually has 6 of them (3 big, and 3 little), she is only allowed to carry 4 of them around - although, one MUST be the zebra blanket. When she is not carrying them, she is very deliberate in arranging them on the loveseat - and woe to him that disturbs the arrangement. This also carries over to the car - she knows that (most of the time) she is to leave the blankies in the car, so she carefully arranges the travel blankies on the seat - the asian print goes minkie side up, the zebra print goes minkie side down. Any dolls or purses that have accompanied her, but are to be left in the car for that particular moment, are also arranged with care. Sometimes an additional adjustment is made, and we can only leave when she declares it "Perfect, mommy!".
Thankfully, Sam only needs Ox when he sleeps. Ox also does not usually leave the house unless we will be traveling while he is sleeping. (For emergencies, Car Ox is tucked into a carseat blanket. I tried to get a backup for Ox, but the newer one didn't have the, um, aroma that the original one does - despite washings - and he could too easily tell the difference.)
Although, for all the twirling and worrying that he does to Ox's poor tail, I don't know what will happen when it falls off (and it will). Just trying to get Ox away from Sam long enough to put in the washing maching is a trial.
Needless to say, we are thankful for these sweet objects of comfort that they have found. There are days I wouldn't mind having a woobie, too.
